More upgrades for your Faster Than Light: Nomad robots.

Cybernetics

Technology Age: varies

Cost: varies

A robot may have certain cybernetics installed in place of regular arms, legs, and equipment if the cybernetics provides an advantage that ordinary equipment does not. Robots do not incur Loss.

Database (type)

Technology Age: Early Interstellar

Cost: 2000 Cr

A Database grants a Simulated or Artificial Intelligence an effective +1D on Knowledge throws on a specific topic. The S.I. or A.I. must have a Knowledge skill.

Expert System (type)

Technology Age: Early Interstellar

Cost: 5000 Cr

An Expert System grants a Simulated or Artificial Intelligence +1D Advantage in a particular area of knowledge. It includes a full database on the topic in question and decision trees embodying best practices in the field. In practice it functions like an expert hovering over the robot’s shoulder (or equivalent), sensing what they sense and reacting in real time. Only one Expert System can be active at any time.

With the Referee’s permission, an Expert System can emulate Talents that do not grant Advantage on a skill throw but some other benefit. Examples include Ace Pilot (FTLN p 22, Advantage on Positon rolls), Bodyguard (FTLN p 19, take a hit for another character), and Medic (FTLN p 24, Advantage on Triage rolls). Talents requiring social or emotional awareness are beyond the scope of an Expert System.

Integral Weapon (type)

Technology Age: Early Interstellar

Cost: 1500 Cr + cost of weapon

A weapon customized to be fired electronically by a robot. May be mounted on the end of an arm, mounted on a ball socket in the chest or head, or mounted on a turret on the top. If that weapon breaks, the whole assembly must be replaced.

Weapon Mount

Technology Age: Late Atomic

Cost: 500 Cr

A specialized mount for a robot to hold a weapon. May either replace one of the robot’s arm or be mounted atop the robot as a turret. Can only hold one type of weapon (Rifle, Handgun, etc.) The weapon must be insterted and adjusted manually.

Weapon Mount, Heavy

Technology Age: Late Atomic

Cost: 1000 Cr

A Weapon Mount (see above) for a Heavy Weapon.
