Empyrean

Empyreans are divinities from another world at war with Cosmic Chaos. They send emissaries to other worlds who have yet to succumb to Chaos in what they call the “Cosmic Struggle”.

Guardians protect temples and other holy sites. Messengers carry the word of Empyrea to mortals. Luminaries assist humans, sometimes with object lessons. Archons ensure the proper working of natural law. Aeons command the others and maintain natural law.

Empyrean Aeon

A vast humanoid figure made of soft light, its arms and wings outspread as if supporting the heavens.

Aeons delegate interaction with mortals to Luminaries, Guardians, and Messengers. Should someone seek a direct audience the Aeon may or may not oblige.

AC 20, HP 122, ATK 6 fingers +10 (1d12) or decree, MV far, S +10, D +10, C +10, I +10, W +10, Ch +10, AL L, LV 25

All-Speak. All beings can understand the Aeon, and vice versa.

Awe. All witnesses must make DC 15 Awe Check.

Decree. The Aeon states a rule that applies to all beings within far, even itself. DC 20 CON check to avoid physical transformations. DC 20 CHA to avoid behavioral obedience.

Detect Thoughts. Can detect the surface thoughts of all mortals within far range. Instantly aware of the Detect Thoughts spell cast upon them.

Holy Dread. Any hostile spell cast at an Aeon has DC 20. Spells, powers, or attacks from Chaotic extraplanar creatures like demons and devils are at Disadvantage.

Immortal. If Aeon reduced to 0 HP, turns to ball of light and returns to the heavens. All other Empyreans go with.

Incorporeal. In place of attacks, become corporeal or incorporeal.

Invisible. Usually cannot be seen without magic. May become visible when corporeal.

Knockout. If target reduced to 0 HP, target knocked out.

True Sight. The Aeon sees through illusions, invisibility, shape shifting, and other transformations to the essence of a being.

Empyrean Archon

A towering, faceless figure resembling a giant made of light.

AC 18, HP 72, ATK 4 bare hands +4 (1d6) or 1 Word (far) +4 (1d12), MV near, S +4, D +4, C +4, I +4, W +4, Ch +4, AL L, LV 16

All-Speak. All beings can understand the Archon, and vice versa.

Awe. All witnesses must make DC 15 Awe Check.

Holy. Chaotic extraplanar creatures are at Disadvantage to attack or cast spells at an Archon.

Immortal. If Archon reduced to 0 HP, turns to ball of light and returns to the heavens.

Incorporeal. In place of attacks, become corporeal or incorporeal.

Invisible. May become invisible when incorporeal.

Knockout. If target reduced to 0 HP, target knocked out.

True Sight. The Archon sees through illusions, invisibility, shape shifting, and other transformations to the essence of a being.

Word. All Archons have a single word that describes their function. (E.g. Spring, Fire, Health, Sky, Earth, Command, Weapons.) Nothing related to that word can harm an Archon. The Archon can exercise the Word to inflict 1d12 damage or work any other relevant magic upon a mortal.

Empyrean Guardian

A terrifying apparition of a warrior wreathed in an aura of light.

AC 15 (leather + shield), HP 25, ATK 1 spear +7 (1d6), MV near (corporeal)r or far (incorporeal), S +4, D +2, C +2, I +1, W +3, Ch +3, AL L, LV 5

All-Speak. All beings can understand the the Guardian, and vice versa.

Fear. Witnesses must a DC 15 CHA check or flee the scene. Success brings immunity to that Guardian for that night.

Incorporeal. In place of attacks, become corporeal or incorporeal.

Invisible. May become invisible when incorporeal.

Knockout. If target reduced to 0 HP, target knocked out.

Warning. The Guardian’s warning roar awakens all beings within a temple or other building. Ignore walls. Sleeping magic is dispelled.

Empyrean Luminary

A humanoid being seemingly made of light.

AC 12, HP 51, ATK 2 bare hands +4 (1d4), MV near, S +4, D +4, C +4, I +4, W +4, Ch +4, AL L, LV 6

Awe. In true form, all witnesses must make DC 12 Awe Check.

Human Form. Can assume completely human form. All characteristics remain the same.

Immortal. If Luminary reduced to 0 HP, turns to ball of light and returns to the heavens.

Incorporeal. In place of attacks, become corporeal or incorporeal.

Invisible. May become invisible when incorporeal.

Languages. Speaks, reads, and writes all languages.

Knockout. If target reduced to 0 HP, target knocked out.

Empyrean Luminary, Greater

A humanoid being seemingly made of light who exudes strength and confidence.

AC 12, HP 54, ATK 2 bare hands +5 (1d4), MV near, S +5, D +5, C +5, I +5, W +5, Ch +5, AL L, LV 11

Awe. In true form, all witnesses must make DC 15 Awe Check.

Human Form. Can assume completely human form. All characteristics remain the same.

Immortal. If Luminary reduced to 0 HP, turns to ball of light and returns to the heavens.

Incorporeal. In place of attacks, become corporeal or incorporeal.

Invisible. May become invisible when incorporeal.

Languages. Speaks, reads, and writes all languages.

Knockout. If target reduced to 0 HP, target knocked out.

Empyrean Messenger

A translucent winged figure with an aura of light.

AC 12, HP 17, ATK 2 open hand slap +3 (1d3), MV near (corporeal) or far (incorporeal), S +3, D +3, C +3, I +3, W +3, Ch +3, AL L, LV 3

All-Speak. All beings can understand the the Guardian, and vice versa.

Awe. All witnesses must make DC 12 Awe Check.

Command. The Messenger issues a command. All listeners make a DC 15 CHA check or obey. Usable 1/day.

Immortal. If Messenger reduced to 0 HP, turns to ball of light and returns to the heavens.

Incorporeal. In place of attacks, become corporeal or incorporeal.

Invisible. May become invisible when incorporeal.

Knockout. If target reduced to 0 HP, target knocked out.
